Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine like an “S” or “C” shape making the waist or shoulders uneven. It causes stiffness and pain and unlike the normal curvature of the spine, adjusting your posture will not correct the problem. More common in females and beginning in childhood, only two percent of the population is afflicted. Early treatment will prevent it from worsening over time.

Degenerative diseases of the spine can cause scoliosis. Osteoporosis usually occurs in older people as the bones soften and the vertebrae bend—sometimes to the point of a rounded back called kyphosis. Severe back pain, deformity and difficulty breathing can be some symptoms that will arise. Chiropractic care can help improve this condition.
